We talked to Mats Olsson, Director Health & Healthcare and Consultant at Kairos Future about how to make the most of Digital|Health. Why is it important to have a strategy for Digital|Health today? To solve some of the health care challenges of the future in both wellness and healthcare, it’s important to seize the opportunities generated by digitization. Stockholm County Council used the term ‘network healthcare’ in their plans to describe the new health care system. More players are expected to start life-logging and data sharing within the system. Smartphones, apps and sensors are already moving the lab and diagnostics to our pockets. To be successful you need to start your strategic development today. What challenges do you see as critical for Digital|Health being implemented in core activities? To create the real benefit from the services developed, you need to have access to the infrastructure, sometimes called ecosystem, where common principles for transport, sharing and storing of data are available. The first critical challenge is to realize the significance of this and what it means for areas such as interoperability. The second critical challenge is to understand the degree of collaboration and transparency required in order to participate in such an ecosystem. What trends should we follow in 2015? The most important trend for the advance of Digital|Health is digitalization, a driver with multiple aspects that include hardware and software automation, knowledge automation, mobility, crowdsourcing and do-it-yourself health.
